As an Affiliate of ISTE (International Society for Technology in Education), the Missouri Educational Technology Community, METC, (formerly CSDVLC) is dedicated to assisting the education community through support, promotion, and leadership in the effective use of educational technology. Membership to this collaborative community is open to all educators and includes opportunities for networking, volunteering, collaboration and leadership. Join METC and connect with your Special Interest Group (SIG) at the Midwest Education Technology Conference and other educational events.
What is ISTE?
The International Society for Technology in Education (ISTE®) is the premier membership association for educators and education leaders engaged in improving learning and teaching by advancing the effective use of technology in PK-12 and teacher education.
ISTE represents more than 100,000 education leaders and emerging leaders throughout the world and informs its members regarding educational issues of national and global scope.
ISTE members include individuals, affiliate organizations, and corporations:

- 80 affiliate organizations ~ over 60 affiliates in the United States
- 89 individual member countries
- 65 corporations worldwide

ISTE membership is a powerful and meaningful way for educators to connect with peers, to gather in a variety of forums to share the challenges and excitement of teaching, and to be part of a community that leads the transformation of education.
What is an ISTE Affiliate?
ISTE partners with like-minded organizations around the world to advance our mission together in local, regional, national and global arenas. ISTE affiliates are autonomous, nonprofit, professional membership organizations that share ISTE’s mission and function at a grassroots level to affect change in the field of educational technology. ISTE’s affiliate network represents more than 100,000 educators and professionals including classroom teachers; trainers and technology coordinators; leaders who set policy at an individual school, district, or government level; and innovative business leaders who create mission-driven products and services that transform education. The affiliate network is an active community of leaders who collaborate to exchange best practices and work together to find solutions. The affiliate network works closely with ISTE to develop and deliver professional development, advocate on behalf of educators and build advocacy capacity among affiliates’ members, provide leadership and policy recommendations, and much more. Who is METC ISTE affiliate?
As a program of CSD's Virtual Learning Center, the Missouri Educational Technology Community (formerly CSDVLC) ISTE affiliate provides professional development and support for area educators through the use of technology and 21st century skills. The affiliate was established in 2010 and consists of educators from the Greater St. Louis area and beyond.

METC ISTE affiliate purpose:
- Provide a forum for collaboration on issues regarding educational technology and a means for members to share best practices.
Goals of the Missouri Educational Technology Community:
- improve learning, teaching, and education administration through appropriate uses of technology
- support the mission through knowledge generation, professional development, and advocacy
- give a voice to educators in the ed tech community
- provide tools, skills and support needed to make “technology happen”
- provide inclusive and engaging support for educators
- provide high quality professional development opportunities
- propose policy solutions to benefit students and educators in the area of technology integration
- support the development of a culture of ubiquitous, open access/cloud computing/technology use
